What Coaching is... and isn't

There are a lot of misconceptions about what professional coaching is. Before deciding if coaching is right for you, it's important to understand what to expect. 


Coaching is a partnership. It's a conversation between two people who are equally invested in helping you move forward. You bring your experiences, goals, challenges, and expertise about your own life. I bring thoughtful questions, fresh perspectives, practical tools, and a space where you can think more clearly than you often can on your own.


The best coaching doesn't happen because I have the answers. It happens because, together, we uncover yours. The goal is to give you the clarity and confidence to move forward without me. That's what we'll be working toward together. 


Coaching is...

  • A space to think out loud without judgment.
  • Honest conversations that challenge your assumptions while honoring your values.
  • Equal parts curiosity, accountability, encouragement, and reflection.
  • An opportunity to experiment, learn, and grow—not to be perfect.
  • Focused on where you are today and where you want to go next.


Coaching isn't...

  • Therapy or mental health treatment.
  • Consulting where I tell you exactly what to do.
  • Advice-giving based on what I would do in your situation.
  • A place to simply vent without creating movement (though some amount of venting can be productive).
  • Magic. Growth still requires your willingness to reflect, experiment, and take action between sessions. 


My Promise

  • I'll bring curiosity before judgment.
  • I'll ask the questions others might avoid.
  • I'll celebrate your wins, challenge you when you're getting in your own way, and remind you of strengths you've forgotten you have.
  • We will laugh, even if it seems impossible.
  • You don't have to have everything figured out before we start. In fact, most people don't.
  • That's what coaching is for.
